Windows XP, what needs saved in order to wipe hard drive, no recovery disk was provided?
Dick asked:
I am running XP on an older HP 751n desktop. I was wondering what I need to do in order to wipe my hard drive and re-install XP. There was never a recovery disk so I’m not sure if it’s possible to re-install Windows. I don’t want to spend money on a new copy of XP and don’t want Vista, any help would be appreciated. Do I just live with all the junk? I defrag, clean my registry and delete all temp files every time I shut down,,,I also run my TrendMicro with spyware remover on a schedule

First, back all your data up. Second, insert XP CD and boot from a ROM drive. Choose a clean installation will wipe out all old data. Note that you need to buy XP CD separately.
