Will my recovery Disks work after formatting the hard drive?

I have made recovery DVDs for the same …Due to some problems I want to have Windows XP on my laptop… I am planning to format the hard disk , partition it, and have XP installed …… If I need to Install Vista again ….will my recovery DVDs work ??..
